HAPSS Insights Presented at ICAS 2024

From September 9-13, 2024, the latest developments from the HAPSS project were shared at the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) in Florence, Italy. This renowned global event, featuring over 650 participants from academia and industry, focused on the future of aerospace technology.

Bartjan Rietdijk, Lead Certification Engineer at Conscious Aerospace, presented findings from the HAPSS Hydrogen-Electric Retrofit project. His presentation drew significant interest, highlighting the increasing focus on sustainable aviation solutions. Key topics included advancements in fuel cell technology and shifting regulatory standards, illustrating the collaborative efforts needed to drive climate-neutral aviation forward.

Launch of the International Advisory Council

On March 7, the first meeting of the International Advisory Council (IAC) of Aviation in Transition took place. This council consists of experts with extensive experience and knowledge in the aviation sector and related topics. During this meeting, the members of our international advisory council got acquainted with each other, the board members of LiT, and several subprojects. They have already provided valuable advice on a number of initial subprojects, confirming the value of the IAC.

On February 15, 2023, the National Growth Fund's Aviation in Transition project kicked off with a dynamic event at the Fokker Terminal in The Hague, gathering 250 participants from across the aviation industry. Key speakers, including Ron van Manen and Michel van Ierland from Conscious Aerospace, highlighted groundbreaking developments in sustainable aviation, with a focus on hydrogen-powered technologies. The event showcased collaborative efforts to make aviation climate-neutral, including the HAPSS project led by Conscious Aerospace, which aims for the first hydrogen-powered flight from Rotterdam to London by 2028.

First Project Day of 2024

The first Project Day of Aviation in Transition 2024 was a successful networking event, bringing together project leaders to share updates and insights. Ron van Manen, Director of Aviation in Transition, and Ilse Beoletto from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management provided updates on the LiT program and National Growth Fund. Daan van Dijk highlighted sustainability initiatives at Rotterdam The Hague Airport and Schiphol, focusing on European collaboration to accelerate innovation. The DutcH2 Aviation Hub at Rotterdam Airport, home to the HAPSS project by Conscious Aerospace, showcased progress in hydrogen availability and infrastructure. Presentations from GKN and NAG leaders further emphasized ecosystem-wide advancements in aviation sustainability.
